IF I WERE A FALCON IF I WERE A MOUSE IF I WERE YOU

If you were a falcon,
what would you say to the mouse.
Would you say, "Hello and what are your thoughts
on nuclear proliferation,
on the greenhouse effect,
on the impending threat
of long-slumbering automatons
rising with clenched fists
powered by steam and coal."
No you would not,
you would not say anything at all,
there was nothing to say in the first place,
because you were never the falcon,

and I was never the mouse.
