Keeping pace

Keeping pace is a different thing from the race.
When they turn their heads in turn they turn to
one another, never misstep, and run.
And when they fall upon the gray concrete,
they fall together to impress their eyes
into the body of an open street.
They outstretch their arms and they clasp their hands
to loom gigantic over every view:
two colossi in every single breath.
