How She Walks
She walks like how the city walks,
like how the city would
skip-hop-jump-waltz-trot --
foxtrot,
one, two, three, four --
one, two, three, four.
She walks like how a performance
of "Swan Lake" walks,
each step the step of a thousand ballet dancers
compressed into her heel,
and still she wonders why they love her
while she talks over an appetizer
at that Thai place on Russian Hill.
